OPEN EDITORIAL MEETING:
Online Open Event
Handbook of Artistic Research Methods: Resonating Practices
22 April 17:00-18:00 CET
This event is an open editorial meeting (online) where we are developing a practical guide to artistic research methods.
The Handbook under development, will be a unique resource for researchers, educators and students who wish to work with different methods of inquiry developed within the artistic research field over the last three decades. This resource on artistic research methods is developed in support of actual practice and seeks to provide a useful guide for application of a range of methods developed by artistic researchers. Edited by an interdisciplinary group of leading educators and researchers, the volume provides tools, concepts and perspectives from across the arts in a useful and easy to use resource that both describes specific methods, provides concrete examples and contextualizes their use. Rather than propose these methods as simply transferable or straightforwardly replicable, this handbook proposes that these ways of working may find resonance in different research undertakings across many domains, not just within artistic research.
As part of the discussion we will briefly consider some existing contributions in this broad area, to learn from teh approach taken in other related initiatives and published sources, including: Performance research methods; Making Matters: A Vocabulary for Collective Arts; Artistic Research Methodology: Narrative, Power and the Public; and the glossary In Terms of Performance.
The editorial team comprises: Henk Slager, Irina Gheorghe, Iris van der Tuin, Maria Topolčanská, Mick Wilson and Vytautas Michelkevičius.
